Barnum quickly made a hazardous reconnaissance of the area, seeking targets for his artillery. He humbly yet passionately spoke about those Marines and Sailors he led when his company was suddenly hit by a hail of enemy fire in Vietnam.

It was exciting to have everyone back under one roof all dressed up and ready to celebrate an American Hero for his outstanding leadership and heroism and overall contributions to our nation. We were back in full swing after two long years of canceled events due to a Global Pandemic. On March 19, 2022, the Marine Corps University Foundation honored Colonel Harvey “Barney” Barnum, Jr., USMC (Ret) an American hero and Medal of Honor recipient at our annual Semper Fidelis Award Dinner and Black-Tie Gala.
